Education is one of ACD´s primary focuses. We serve through an after-school community program. We build literacy, reinforce math and language, and teach Spanish for children that speak a Guatemalan native language (Mam and Quiche, for example). The program is oriented to support students in vulnerable conditions (low socio-economic level), students in risk (violence in schools, early maternity, lack of father/mother) and students repeating grade levels (reinforcement and retention).
Public education in rural Guatemalan communities is only offered through the 6 th grade. The lack of an opportunity to continue learning leads to children and adolescents being forced to work or migrate. Our stay scholarship program, offers the opportunity to continue studying until high school. There are many dreams that can be fulfilled in Guatemala and you can help build the Guatemalan dream by sponsoring and developing students.
